Mosquito-borne diseases are very common, due to their easy transmission. When a mosquito bites a person, along with blood it also sucks the viruses and bacteria present inside that person. When the same mosquito bites different persons, those viruses and bacteria are transmitted to them. So, when you find mosquito infestation in your home, be sure to call for professional mosquito control services in Kolkata.

Because pest control is something one cannot do without having proper knowledge and great techniques. And after knowing its importance, one cannot delay adopting the treatment as early as possible.

Signs of Mosquito Infestation

Stagnant Water:

Water plays a crucial role in a mosquito’s life. They need water to survive and lay eggs. Young mosquitoes get their food supply and thrive in the water. That is why stagnant or still water is the perfect place for them to breed. Still, water is a natural or artificial container like an unused pool, a bucket of water, water-filled tyres, etc. are the most prominent location for mosquito presence. If you have such areas around or inside your property, it is most likely to be invaded by mosquitoes.

Daylight Sightings:

Another clear sign of mosquito infestation is their sighting during the day. Normally, mosquitoes are active during the night and evening. They are less likely to be seen during the day, so they hide under the shaded or around plenty of vegetation.

Mosquitoes first invade your yard and then make their way into your home. One or two mosquitoes are not a sign of infestation. If your start seeing several of them and that too during the day, it is time to hire mosquito control services in Kolkata.

Itchy Bites:

When female mosquitoes feed on our blood, they release a group of proteins and blood thinner, to get the blood flow more easily. Our body recognizes these chemicals as foreign components, which is why it releases histamine hormone to fight back. This hormone is responsible for itchiness.

Mosquito bites are puffy, reddish bump that is caused after a few minutes of the biting. It is hard, itchy and swollen.  The bump usually clears up within a few days. Occasionally, a mosquito bite causes a big area of swelling and redness, mild fever, hives, and swollen lymph nodes. But, these cases are extremely rare.

Buzzing Noise:

If you have come across a mosquito, you must know that they create a high-pitch buzzing noise when nearby. If you have very few mosquitoes, you might not able to hear it. With a house full of mosquitoes, the buzzing noise will be constant.

Common Mosquito-Borne Diseases:

Malaria:

Malaria is caused by a tiny parasite called plasmodium that lives inside a mosquito and is spread through mosquito bites. It is spread mostly by female mosquitos. If not treated properly, Malaria can be fatal by disrupting the blood supply to crucial organs. Common symptoms include fever, vomiting, muscle pain, nausea, etc.

Dengue:

Dengue fever is caused by transmission through a mosquito bite. This mosquito bites mostly during the day. The symptoms normally begin 3 – 14 days after the bite. Normal dengue fever can also turn into a dengue haemorrhagic fever/dengue septic shock that can be deadly due to plasma leaking, fluid accumulation, severe bleeding, respiratory diseases, or organ impairment. Common Symptoms include fever, rashes, mild pain behind the eyes, vomiting, etc.

Yellow Fever

The name “yellow” is added as this virus causes jaundice in some people. The majority of the people infected with this virus have mild illnesses. However, more than 200,000 cases and 30,000 deaths are seen every year. There is a vaccine available for yellow fever which is said to be almost 100% effective. Common Symptoms include jaundice, fever, vomiting, headache, etc.

Chikungunya

It is a viral disease transmitted by mosquitos. Since its discovery in 2013, over 1 million people have been affected by this disease. Chikungunya does not normally result in death but the joint pain can last for months or maybe years that can result in chronic pain and disability. Only prevention measures are effective, as it does not have any guaranteed vaccine. Common Symptoms are fever, joint and muscle pain, fatigue, etc.
